Dear FIREBASE NETWORK Subscribers,
The FIREBASE NETWORK been around for more than
two decades in several
different formats. In the early 80's, before
personal computers, veterans advocates
shared information and news via Fax and snail
mail. They called this
communications- loop between veterans groups the
Firebase Network. In the 90's the
network moved onto the Internet. Since then,
the FBN has established two web
sites, three Egroups, and a weekly radio
program. FIREBASE NEWS Egroup
currently has 152 subscribers, and many of
those subscribers forward our traffic to
other list. We also host FIREBASE CHAT and
FIREBASE VOICE. Our radio program
went on the air in January of 2000, and is our
most powerful asset. RICK and
MICHELE TOWNSEND have produced 351 one-hour
radio programs since going on the
air. The FIREBASE NETWORK's Veterans' Hour can
be heard every Sunday at 6pm,
EST on Genesis Communications Network. You can
listen live to the broadcast
at this link > _http://gcnlive. com_ (
http://gcnlive.
com) Genesis has a large
listening audience and is heard worldwide via
satellite and a number of micro
FM stations. The FBN has loyal listeners in
Canada and Australia. We even
hear from our troops deployed overseas.
All of the airtime is paid for solely by
donations from supporters of the
FBN. It cost $50 a week to air the one-hour
broadcast. The FBN has no sponsors
to help absorb the cost. If we can't make the
payment, we go off the air...
The future of FBN radio programing is in
jeopardy. If we cannot stimulate
the modest flow of donations monthly, the FBN
Veterans Hour will be pulled from
the air. A few loyal supporters have send in
small donations every month
like clockwork. These are the people that
deserve all the credit for keeping the
programing going. However, we have fallen short
of razing the $200 a month
we have need for the past two months. That very
small amount of $200 allows us
to produce 4 one-hour programs that are
broadcast around the world.
You've heard this before, but if everyone that
supports and uses the FBN
network sent in a couple of bucks every month,
the program would survive.
My personal opinion is, our radio programing is
our most valuable asset. We
need to do anything we can to protect it.
There are several of you out there that have
offered to buy me a beer or cup
of coffee if we ever meet. Please do me a
personal favor and send RICK the
price of that drink to support our humble
effort. Don't let the 'Official
Voice of the Veteran's Rights Movement' go
silent. We need your support now.
On behalf of the FBN and those of us that
volunteer to make the network
work, thank you very much for support.
