| #9 My daughter had Kawasaki Disease when
she was seven months old. I researched the disease at the time (6
1/2 years ago) and asked questions of the medical staff at the well
known children's hospital we were told to take her to. As of that
time only 30% of children who had contracted Kawasaki Disease lived
in homes where their carpets had been cleaned recently (within 3-6
months). In my case, our carpets had not been cleaned for much
longer. Based on my personal experience, I do not believe the cleaning agents in carpet cleaner had anything to do with my daughter becoming ill. I have a son who is less then one year older than my daughter who never had Kawasaki. We've lived in the same house since before either of them was born. I do not think we'll ever know what made her sick. Thankfully, I was on top of my daughter's condition when she first got the fever. I had her to the doctor's every day for three says straight as different symptoms appeared, finally resulting in the diagnosis of Kawasaki on day 3 and treatment on days 4-5. I was told that you must begin the gamma globulin (sorry if my spelling is bad) within 10 days of the onset of the fever to avoid long term cardiac issues. To date my daughter is healthy and shows no signs of ever having been ill. She is very intelligent. Regardless of why he was ill, it is upsetting to think of a parent loosing a child. If Kawasaki did have something to do with Jett's medical conditions, I can't say why based on my experience - unless he was diagnosed late (more than 10 days after the fever set in). My heart goes out to his family. |
| #13 My son was diagnosed with KS at age 5 (severe red eyes
were the first sign, he also had some joint pain and couldn't walk).
His white blood cell count was so high we had to have him admitted
to the Emergency room, where he was treated with Gamma Globulin and
was instantly better within hours of the treatment. The story about Travolta's kid came out right about the same time and when they mentioned carpet cleaner may have been the cause, we too suspected that as we had just recently cleaned our carpeting. Anyway, after being treated with the Gamma Globulin (gamma rays?), he had a full body scan because he originally complained of pain in his legs also. Well, the body scan lit up the x-rays to point the disease specialist on hand thought he had either leukemia or neuroblastoma. We were stunned, but after doing some online research myself, I asked if the Gamma treatment he received could have lit up the x-rays (the disease specialist was unaware of the Gamma treatment at the time), and sure enough, that's what happened as he had neither disease. He was about 1hr away from getting a catheter put in for the cancer treatment!!!! Just thought I'd mention this in case it happens to anyone else and they read this. By the way, my son is just about to turn 13, and while he's had no symptoms of KS since the original diagnoses, he was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes about a year and a half ago. I haven't found any real link between KS and Diabetes however. He's using an insulin pump and a star on his travel baseball team...the kid as been through a lot, but he's adapting about as well as can be expected. |
| I want to thank you for sharing what
happened when your children had Kawasaki Syndrome (post #9 & #13) It
caused me to look again at information I had found as to autoimmune
platelets being helped by gamma globulin. The comment said that ITP
was an autoimmune issue against platelets much as Autoimmune
Hemolytic Anemia was an autoimmune action on the red blood cells. So
I suspect gamma globulin may be
the answer to help for autoimmune issues, and even cancers. Thank
you all for your comments. I think U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy needs this for help for his FATIGUE that leads to seizures. Also that whole blood cell transfusion (as recommended for pets sometimes) would be a real help to him also |
Consider for causing Autism, too *
| Help for Senator Kennedy.... for help for his FATIGUE that leads
to seizures. From the things I've heard I suspect the same fatigue that vets with syndrome or civilians with chronic fatigue have. His red blood cells would be bolstered if his doctors would consider a whole blood cell transfusion / live donor beside him for transfusion (I don't think hospitals have whole blood). Then if they would consider the help of gamma globulin ... &/or Rituxan. If he is having 'the chills' in addition to rapid heart beat and shortness of breath, it would most probably be clues to the anemia/FATIGUE. http://www.valdezhousing.com/re/helpcfids.htm It is easy to be exposed to this BUTYL & I strongly suspect it for the epidemic of AUTISM, too & so many, many birth defects & preterm babies http://murkowski.senate.gov/public |
