Same issues for civilians (CFIDS, CFS, FM) and other time periods ... just TOO much exposure to glycol ethers which are on the list of solvents & pesticides gulf war troops were exposed to.

What is the civilian name for 'gulf war syndrome?' & a cure?
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome ... (one notices the immune system, is all)

In these, doctors do not know what the fatigue is.

It is autoimmune hemolytic anemia that fools the basic blood tests (too many red blood cells are immature or Retic rate is running high on an acute exposure)

It is what happens when someone is poisoned by 2-butoxyethanol
Known by lots of other names, as well
http://www.valdezlink.com/2-b_synonyms.htm

In Simple Green, Dow Chemical calls it butyl cellosolve

Basically we have been poisoning our own people, civilian and military alike for over 50 years.

Corexit made matters worse when it became part of the military arsenal (Bad invention of Exxon which was NOT selected for use during the Exxon Valdez oil spill cleanup) That made matters worse

Someone said to me that they felt there was already a cure out there, but whoever has it, would prefer to make money off of the illness.

So, if that were true, I say that a cure is possible; and someone else can come up with it

Why did I think about this chemical? That was easy, if you start with this chemical http://home.gci.net/~blessing/pages/who.htm
Saving Luke Duvall - CBS comment:

"There is another cause of flu symptoms that is very serious. Exposure to glycol ether. http://www.valdezlink.com/re/flu/swine/glycolether.htm There would be blood in urine from the anemia it causes: AIHA and there would be shortness of breath, rapid heart beat, abnormal body temperature, abnormal blood pressure, abnormal blood sugar (autoimmune hypothalamus). "The chills" is also often found and serious HEADACHES and memory loss. Body's immune system turns autoimmune & ignores the real job it is supposed to be doing. High white blood cells can show up as advanced anemia (not an infection per se). Whole blood transfusion can do wonders. In the extreme, however, organs can shut down."  10-19-09

Update on Luke

  • There was an El Paso gulf war vet who was doing strenuous exercise for a new job he wanted. He died & I suspect it was from lack of oxygen the red blood cells could deliver. There is a serious anemia, autoimmune hemolytic anemia, that goes undetected for those with too much exposure to glycol ether. I suspect this is the cause of the odd symptoms of 'CFIDS, CFS, FM, gulf war syndrome.'  There is also a 'second hand' solvent exposure. *  If you ran in the wrong place in the race, the expelled breath of those nearby, if they were poisoned by glycol ether ... would be getting in the eyes of those nearby.  10-18-09

What does glycol ether exposure such as that of 2-butoxyethanol cause? MSDS info says it causes acute hemolytic anemia in rats. I strongly believe this chemical exposure through the past century is cause of autoimmune issues, and cancers, yet to this day laws do not require it to be disclosed in anything. It is way too strong in home cleaning products. I suspect it is in Clean Shower but they refuse to disclose any ingredients. I suspect this chemical is the cause of 'gulf war syndrome and the primary harm to Vietnam vets.

These chemicals are in widespread use that everyone of every age and job can be easily exposed to. Understand 2-butoxyethanol and other glycol butyl ethers and you will have many questions answered. It is a neurotoxin, a pesticide, an organic solvent, a teratogen, a poison. It should be suspect for a host of autoimmune issues and variations of same. I suspect it for ALS, CJD, MS, etc and exposure looks like 'the flu'

It is distressing that it is often not disclosed in our home cleaning products, and by current laws ... does not have to be.

Chemicals Linked to Gulf War Illness
    Associated Press  |  March 11, 2008
WASHINGTON - Increasing evidence ties pesticides and other chemicals to some, not all, of the Gulf War illnesses that afflict thousands of veterans of the 1991 war, says an analysis published Monday.

Nearly 30 percent of troops who took part in the brief war have reported symptoms that include fatigue, memory loss, pain and difficulty sleeping. Citing the variety of symptoms, the Institute of Medicine in 2006 declared there is no single Gulf War syndrome, although troops who served in the Persian Gulf were sicker than those who didn't.
