Coming to Valdez?

Housing, both rentals and homes to purchase, generally cost more in Valdez than the Anchorage or Fairbanks areas.

You can expect to pay about $950 per month for a long term rental plus utilities: $1350 per month with everything included & weekly light housekeeping. Most of the nicer homes are in the $200,000+ range. I would be sure to check with each of the three Real Estate Companies. Some properties all offices can work on; some are promoted primarily by one office, but each office has a different perspective and something to contribute to your finding Valdez an acceptable home city for your family.

The schools are very good. If you go to the links page of my website (www.valdezhousing.com) their website can be found. Being a small-sized town, it has a low crime rate and friendliness among it's people. A nice town to live and raise a family!

Currently there is slightly more supply of housing units than in the past... Thankfully for those scouting for a "home" there are more choices and nicer choices; even more neighborhoods than Valdez had 5 years ago

In the last year, I have noticed some 4 or more homes offered on a lease/purchase basis. In prior years this was unheard of; so this is another indication that we have more supply than demand. All the same, sales remain good; and generally homes sell within 6 months.

Usually we have 10-12 homes to choose from at any one time. I always tell buyers that if they are persistent, & diligently continue to look for their home, that they will have a good selection over a period of time.

At the present time, no one is certain of what the supply and demand will be; but we are expecting more choices in both rental units and homes to purchase than has been the case in the past ten years; so this should also mean better prices.

For initial housing

... instead of a motel room; I offer companies turnkey housing priced at corporate rate for a motel room, only it's a whole place up and running. Many companies use our housing option seasonally... year after year; and the government has also leased our units year 'round

Sometimes in the summer season when an employee comes,

there isn't enough availability at the nicest motel

to stay consecutive days.

We also offer long-term housing with or without housekeeping included.
