Sheet (MSDS) on crude oil and on inipol EAP22 used during cleanup of oil
spills, and EPA's Technical Product Bulletin #B-10.***
For your information, the Division of Labor Standards and Services of the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development operates its own OSHA-approved occupational safety and health program, known as AKOSH, under a plan approved by the U.S. Department of Labor. AKOSH is responsible for the job safety and health of working men and women throughout the State of Alaska. AKOSH adopts and enforces job safety and health standards that are identical to or as effective as federal OSHA standards.
Almost all of Alaska's standards are adopted by reference and thus are identical to federal OSHA's. AKOSH's standards that are different from the federal or are State-initiated are posted on its website at http://www.labor.state.ak.us/lss/lss.htm/. Click on Alaska Administrative Code at the left, then on Title 8, then on Part 4 - Occupational Safety and Health Division, and select Chapter 61, Article 11, Occupational Safety and Health Standards. Alaska has adopted OSHA's hazard communication standard at 29 CFR 1910.1200, which contains MSDS requirements, but also requires (at 8 AAC 61.1110) that employers have a physical agent data sheet for each physical agent in their workplace. OSHA's hazard communication standard is accessible through OSHA's website at http://www.osha.gov/. The standard requires in section (g) that employers make available to employees copies of MSDS's for each hazardous chemical that they use at their workplace.
You may wish to contact AKOSH at the following address concerning your request. Because of AKOSH's involvement in the cleanup operations following the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill, they may have copies of the two MSDS that you are seeking, or know how to obtain them.
