about the lack of courtesy of guests this year, as compared to
prior years ... as to arrival time/s being hours later than
represented. (Or deliberately scheduled to arrive very
late - instead of staying another night where they are)
We reserve the right to close at 9pm, or
charge the regular rates for all rooms booked if we agree to
an after 9pm arrival, ... plus a surcharge.

And we request a call when you
are in Glennallen to confirm your actual anticipated time of
arrival. Then you are not much more than 2
hours away; There will be no cell phone reception for the next
100 miles, until you get to Mile 5 Richardson Highway

We ask for check - in when you
first arrive in Valdez, so we can do our other business. Check-in is very brief,
but we want you to know what you are getting at the house, and
give you your room and house keys so you can be independent in
your schedule thereafter. We hope you will feel at home
during your stay.
Just follow signs to the Hospital and
then look for the 2 story white house with blue shutters:

The Hotels in Valdez become fully booked on
some days in Aug
especially for the balance of August, also
If you wish to have a late arrival, I
recommend you check in at a motel on the first night in
Valdez or somewhere en route, and then come to our BnB for the add on day/s
There will be a $10 surcharge on each
room, if the time of arrival (or check-in) is after 9pm
plus the regular rates

This is still a good rate,
but we would prefer to give you a better

& have you arrive prior to 9pm
Please plan enough travel time between
towns. We have observed guests who leave from
our house at Noon driving to Seward which will put them in
there at about midnight. Anticipate a 12 hour driving
time, so leaving Seward not later than 9am
The road is a winding, slow road, and
please be careful
When you are leaving Anchorage you should
estimate a 6 hour drive to Valdez ... plus a little time to
stop at Mile 29 for the Worthington Glacier and at the Falls,
unless it is dark at that time.

Valdez is a very nice area and a three
day stay is a good choice:
We have river rafting, kayaking (2
companies), nature walks, fishing, museums (3), H2O adventure
tours, 2 cruises to see the glacier & wildlife and history
of our area (LuLu Belle and Stan Stephens companies) ...&
more.

These Guests in August of 2008 caught their
limit in a morning's fishing in a small boat - Just outside the bay! Twelve good looking
Silver Salmon! Thanks for sharing the photo, Jake!
They cleaned their fish down by the boat
harbor on stainless trays provided by City of Valdez, then Packed them in coolers on ice to take
back home. We also have a company, Easy Freeze, which will
flash freeze and package fish to FedX to your home |
